Paulus, Sergius

Paw´luhs, suhr´ji-uhs

The Roman proconsul when Paul and Barnabas visited Cyprus (Acts 13:5-12). He is pictured as an intelligent Gentile, sympathetic to the Christian gospel. According to Acts, he became a Christian after Paul caused the blindness of the hostile Jewish magician Elymas (Bar-Jesus).
