Tahpenes

Tah´puh-neez

The wife of an unnamed twenty-first-dynasty pharaoh; her sister was given in marriage to Hadad of Edom at the time of David (1Kgs 11:19-20). The name Tahpenes is not attested in any Egyptian source. It is probably a Hebrew transcription of either an Egyptian title meaning the “king’s wife” or an Egyptian proper name.
